About Us

Foothills Community Theatre is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting performing arts and theater arts education in McDowell County and the Foothills of North Carolina. Foothills began in 1972 as a part of the McDowell Arts Council Association, but we have been an independent nonprofit entity since 1999.

We typically produce four to five shows each season. Our goal is to offer an entertaining and educational experience for all ages. Please check this website or our Facebook page for more details!

Another event held annually is called the Review Preview, scheduled at the end of June each year. Review Preview is a time to celebrate the end of the season and find out which shows have been selected for the upcoming year. Season tickets also go on sale at this time. At the conclusion of Review Preview, an award ceremony is held to recognize those who have helped to make Foothills Community Theatre a success. Our most prestigious awards are the Sam Paul Combs Lifetime Achievement Award and the Greg Dunn Rising Star Award, bestowed upon those who are worthy of these honors bearing the names of our dear friends.

We invite all members of our community to get involved with our shows! We always need extra hands, so even if acting is not your thing, you may enjoy running lights or helping to build sets or costumes. If you would like more information, please leave a message at 828-659-PLAY (7529) and a volunteer will return your call. You may also send us an email at info@fctplays.org if you would prefer.
