Foothills Community Theatre is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting performing arts and theater arts education in McDowell County and the Foothills of North Carolina. We have been in existence for 44 years. Once a part of the McDowell Arts Council Association, we have been an independent entity for the past 17 years.
We typically produce four shows each season. During the season, we will also conduct workshops for actors and directors, as well as a series of "off-mainstage" events. Our goal is to offer an entertaining and educational experience for all ages. Please check this website or our Facebook page for more details!
Another event held annually is called the Review Preview, scheduled at the end of June each year. It's a big party to celebrate the end of the season and find out which shows have been selected for the upcoming year. Season tickets also go on sale at this time. At the conclusion of the Review Preview, an award ceremony is held to recognize those who have helped to make Foothills Community Theatre a success. Our most prestigious awards are the Sam Paul Combs Lifetime Achievement Award and the Greg Dunn Rising Star Award, bestowed upon those who are worthy of these honors bearing the names of our dear friends.
We invite all members of our community to get involved with our shows! We always need extra hands, so even if acting is not your thing, you may enjoy running lights or helping to build sets or costumes. If you would like more information, please leave a message at 828-659-PLAY (7529) and a volunteer will return your call. You may also send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would prefer.
